Making sense of an evolving sector

Dom brings over 25 years experience in the waste and resource recovery sector, having worked across Australia and internationally. As an Environmental Process Engineer who has worked in a diverse range of roles, he has played a key role in the development and delivery of waste infrastructure projects spanning Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) and processing plants, waste-to-energy, organics processing, emerging technologies and landfills. He is an experienced consultant, having led one of Australia's foremost national waste advisory teams for several years. During that time, he supported a variety of public and private clients at all stages of the waste infrastructure project life-cycle from the waste strategies, infrastructure assessments and feasibility studies that underpin such projects, to the grant programs and procurements that make them happen. He became a trusted advisor to state government and authored the first state-wide detailed assessment of waste infrastructure gaps and needs for Queensland. He also advised multiple investors and financiers in some of Australia's largest waste infrastructure acquisitions.

But he has spent the majority of his career working in industry - delivering projects, solving engineering problems, improving operations and developing new solutions. He has been a senior member of a leading D&C contracting team building multiple waste processing plants including some of Australia's most advanced sorting facilities. He has been deeply involved in project initiation, project oversight, management of contractors, commercial management and commissioning and handover.

Dom has also been called as an expert witness in a prominent Queensland waste approvals case, written an expert report on a failing waste-to-energy plant (UK) and provided technical due diligence advice to both vendor and buyer sides in several significant waste infrastructure investments.
